As a history enthusiast I have spent many hours reading Virginia historical highway markers while sitting inside my car and in front of computer screens.  Not always a safe, leisurely or relaxing way to read them.  I wondered, like many before me, why there wasn't a picture book of all Virginia historical highway markers.  After some research, I found there were none.

I founded Markerhistory.com to make a picture book of all Virginia historical highway markers, with the goal of making them safely and conveniently available to a wider audience.  After two years of research identifying and locating the markers, and field work which included 37,000+ miles of driving and imaging ~ 2,500 markers, I have created the Virginia Historical Marker Collection – a nine (9) volume series of regional pictorial guidebooks.  Collectively, they provide the only complete pictorial guide to Virginia historical highway markers.

We are dedicated to providing a great customer experience and back that commitment with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on our products.

We are committed to helping sustain historical marker programs and the promotion of historic preservation.  We give back a portion of our retail sales to directly fund historical marker programs.  We promote historic preservation by providing wholesale pricing to historical societies and schools in connection with their fund raising activities.

Our regional guidebooks present all the Virginia historical markers in a region chronologically, providing an easy to follow time line of significant people, places and events in Virginia history.  Each guidebook also contains a marker title, marker number, gps coordinate and geographic location index for convenience and easy reference.

Our poster prints chronologically display groups of Virginia historical markers located in the same jurisdiction or relating to the same topic such as the civil war or African American history.

Our post cards each display the image of one Virginia historical marker.
